![]() Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 Everything that surrounds us was once a thought. The car you drive, that cell phone you use (or which uses you), your toothpicks, everything you see was something that someone thought about. We think about a lot of things everyday – like going to gym, eating healthy, saving money, reading the bible, hitting your husband with a pan, starting a business, starting a band, writing a book, changing the world, getting that degree, telling that person you love them, forgiving that person who hurt you, following through with that crazy thought... Some of us do and some of us don’t respond to our thoughts. God thought about this world and He saw us in it. That’s why He says He knows the thoughts and plans He has for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He thought about us and knew us even before we were born (Psalm 139). This world and all of us that live in it was not some random cosmic event! You were intricately thought through by the creator of Heaven and Earth and He spoke those thoughts He had of you into being. God’s thoughts towards you He says, “...outnumber the grains of sand!” Psalm 139:18. It’s pretty clear that God thinks – a lot – especially about you. This explains why we have thousands of thoughts on a daily basis about various things, our hopes & dreams our fears and insecurities, they all clamour for our attention constantly. The difference between the person in jail for murder and the person next to you in traffic is the one followed through on his thought. The difference between Albert Einstein and the guy begging at the intersection is the one dared to follow through on that crazy thought; the other thought they would think I’m crazy for thinking this and he chose the easy path. Your life is a series of thoughts, that were acted upon and which formed into events that shaped your life. You are not some random event! There is a life that you dream of. It’s always there but somehow feels out of reach. You know there’s something great inside of you. It speaks to you, but you’re almost too afraid to believe it. The amazing thing about those crazy dreams and ideas are that they were placed there by God and He wants to bring them to life. He says He’ll give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37). For Him to give you those things he first needs to do a work in you. That work starts by you renewing your mind and your thoughts. Romans 12:2 says that in order to be transformed into the person God says you can be you need to renew your mind. You have to change the way you think. The only way you can change the way you think is by applying the word of God in your life. The bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). The life you want will come when you start declaring the word of God over your life. As you start to speak God’s word you start to believe it, as you start to believe it you start to act on it and as you start to act on it you start to live it. When you look again those negative thoughts, your hurtful past and your fears start to fade away. You’ll notice your thinking starts to change and the words you speak are words of life and not of death. As you do this, thelife you dream of will take shape and God will add to your life and give you the desires of your heart. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
